A One Year Challenge

to investigate Jesus Christ

vs4: I like how John is baptizing not for conversion to Judaism, but for repentance!

vs22: Isn't is awesome God has such authority!!!

Vs. 11-15 The soldiers would have never willingly admitted to falling asleep (That would have been punishable by death!!). Proof enough for me that the saw the resurrection and had to be silenced with a bribe... Besides, if they were asleep how do they know the disciples took the body? LOL

vs19: Finally after the resurrection ALL nations can hear the good news., The Jews had their chance, now it's for ALL.

vs20: Matthew finishes just as he started: "God with us!" (Mtt. 1:23

vs 29 Was doing a little research on the crown of thorns... the thorns were probably about 1.5 inches long and the hit Him on the head again and again to drive them in. that makes me physically ill.

vs34 Jesus refusing to drink the wine mixture (Which eased the pain, but dulled the mind) shows just how much mental power alone it too. To be a willing sacrifice.

vs51 the tearing of the curtain shows how immediately there was open access to God. I can't imagine life before Christ: where you couldn't have open access to God.

vs 14: Says "Then..." Judas agrees to betray Jesus. I wonder what set him off. Was it Mary anointing Jesus, was it Jesus' response in praising Mary, was it the spirt, was it something totaly different? I wonder.

Vs 31: Yet another prophecy fulfilled that Jesus (If he were a false messiah) would have had no control over.

Vs 37 & 38: I had a chance to look up the meanings of some of these words. vs.37 "Sorrowful and troubled": Means heavy and deeply depressed. vs. 38 "Overwhelmed with sorrow" means Great emptiness and desire to flee. This is probably about the time the spirit of God left him. It was the first time ever Jesus was not with the Father in spirit. God the Father could not have anything to do with him at this time due to the sin of the world being laid upon him. Amazing that even Jesus had a desire to flee. Even more amazing that he didn't flee. Praise God!!

I have a note I wrote in the margins (Probably from an earlier teaching): If the Father had already left Jesus, why did he still pray? Answer: He didn't see the joy (or light at the end of the tunnel)

vs65: It was illegal for the high priest to tear his clothes!! I have a list of ALL the laws that were broken during Jesus' trial. I'll make you a copy. It's fascinating!

I Like the Parable of the Talents... It truly shows us what the purpose of our life is: To Know him and make Him known. I pray I can use all my talents (However many or few) I've been given to bring many to Him.

Vs 40: May I NEVER pass someone and not do what I can for them.

About this blog

Jesus Christ is the most central figure in History!

IF it is true that Jesus was the Son of God who intentionally gave his life to die on the cross for us and rose again,

THEN is is also true that each of us will face Jesus after we die.

Sadly, most people on accept "Hearsay" about Jesus. They form their opinions from 1-2 religious seasons or by hearing a lot of opinions and NOT from a careful investigation of his life.

  • It would be sad NOT to believe in Jesus Christ based on "Hearsay" about Jesus.

  • It is ALSO sad to BELIEVE in Jesus Christ based on "Hearsay" about Jesus.

Neither conclusion is a healthy way to respond to the most important subject you will ever face.

The goal of this challenge and blog is to give each person time, respect, tools and encouragement to investigate Jesus Christ for themselves.

This is just a list of my comments on my daily reading. I am human, so there are bound to be some mistakes! Please don't go by my 'hearsay', but research everything for yourself!! Feel free to add your own comments. Please no debates or preaching this is just for your notes too.
